Nurse Refresher
Overview
The Nurse Refresher Course (8 DAYS, the classes are held on the weekends only) is designed to help nursing professionals absent from the inpatient hospital/acute care settings review and update nursing knowledge and skills, allowing them to return with confidence to the nursing field. It is 63 hours of classroom instruction. Additionally, please note that the class is completely online.

Course Outline:
This course covers various topics, including:
- Patient Rights, Informed Consent, Advanced Directives, Organ Donation, Restraints, Charting Documentation, Handling Physician Orders, Dispensing Medications, and Using the Kardex.
- Discussion on critical thinking skills and the registered nurse’s role in the healthcare team.
- Addressing Case Management, Nursing Care Plan, Patient Teaching, Spiritual Care, and Cultural Competency Issues.
Trainees will also learn about regulatory issues such as Title 22, Joint Commission standards, and OSHA requirements. The course will provide an in-depth review of the following topics:
- Gas Exchange & Respiratory Function
- Cardiovascular, Circulatory, Hematologic Function
- Gastrointestinal Function
- Endocrine Function
- Renal, Urinary & Reproductive Function
- Immunologic Function, Infection Control, Universal Precautions
- Perioperative Concepts
- Sensorineural, Integumentary Function, Burn Issues
- Musculoskeletal Function
- Neurologic Function
